Cross country was always my favorite season even though I wasn't very good at it. The fall temps, fun courses, and team camaraderie are unmatched. Love this!
Some great reflections Pete. That’s what a truly miss as I have gotten older, is the teammates and camaraderie felt during this season. I have always felt put your brothers/teammates first. You succeed and fail with them and you grow as a person with each hill you climb or straightaway you glide over. I am blessed to have run for you and the friendships I made and still have from the first day walking on campus and into practice at McCann. You can never take those things away. Great seeing you and the guys, all seem like a really good bunch of kids, but that has always been your number one lesson on the team. Friendship. Love and miss Reese’s
Coming up on my 50th HS reunion and my teammates and I still talk about it, including VanCortland. Blessed to have had a coach that took us there from Buffalo to race the best HS teams.
As someone who was never able to run in HS I have been living vicariously through my three boys for going on 8 years.
I'm proud to say my oldest is one of the young men in the picture.
To see them each in their own way compete, strive, and succeed has been a wonderful experience as a parent.
This sport has taught my sons so much about life, about teamwork and about hard work.
Blessed to have them mentored by some special coaches who have taught them about more than just running. 🦊
